Creativity on display

Oakdale Timber took the opportunity to exhibit some of our craft pieces and custom joinery items, showcasing the beauty of timber as well as the skill of our employees.

The theme of the interactive exhibition this year was “Free 2 Be: a visual creative journey” and aimed to encourage people to use their imagination and be free to be creative and explore what is possible. Butterflies were used to embody the theme, with the centrepiece of the exhibition being a giant butterfly that was created in collaboration with Possability.

The mixed media exhibit featured many works, with some highlights being beautiful hand made boxes and a variety of nesting tables.

Hosted by Hobart City Council, Ability to Create activates Hobart public spaces to enhance a sense of place, nurture creativity and celebrate artistic excellence and inclusion.

Launching on Friday 24 May 2019 to much fanfare, artists and special guests were treated to a performance of Second Echo Ensemble and were joined by Edge Radio for a live broadcast. Over the weekend close to 400 people attended the interactive exhibition, with guests having the opportunity to create their own butterfly to add to the artwork.

Congratulations to all of the artists who took part and put their artwork on display. Thank you to all of the volunteers involved who made the event a success.
